Common Ministerial Decision on: “Amendment of the Decree no. YPEN/GDPP/35330/646/02.04.2024 “Conditions and restrictions for the shores and beaches of high protection (remote beaches)” (B’ 2364), as amended by Joint Ministerial Decision No. YPEN/D ΔΦΠΒ/68831/1806 (B’ 3734)”, signed by the Ministers of National Economy and Finance, Mr. Kyriakos Pierrakakis and Environment and Energy, Mr. Stavros Papastavrou.
This decision amends a previous Decree on “Fraudulent Beaches” in order to improve the environmental protection framework, incorporating new beaches into the list of Fraudulent Beaches, raising their number from 238 to 251.
The above amendment seeks to ensure the effective protection of beaches of particular aesthetic, geomorphological or ecological value, as well as the conservation of habitat types and flora and fauna species found on these beaches. In particular, the number of coastal beaches and beaches within areas included in the National List of Sites of the European Ecological Network Natura 2000, where the granting of simple use is now prohibited, as well as any other action that may endanger their morphology and their integrity in terms of their ecological functions.
