A 63-year-old foreigner was arrested with a kilo of cocaine in Aspropyrgos after a police check.

More specifically, police officers patrolling in the Aspropyrgos area spotted a vehicle that looked suspicious to them and signaled the driver (who was carrying the cocaine) to stop. However, he got out of the car and tried to escape.

A foot chase ensued and officers detained him, despite him resisting with pushing and kicking.

A check of the car revealed about 1 kilogram and 77 grams of cocaine. A subsequent search of his home led to the discovery of a further 150 grams of cocaine, 10 identity cards that had been reported lost or stolen, and two passports of questionable authenticity.

A case was filed against him for a number of offences, including possession and trafficking of drugs, use of false documents, possession of stolen goods, resisting the authorities and illegal stay in the country.

The 63-year-old was taken to the prosecutor.
