The 48-year-old lawyer, who was prosecuted for human trafficking in connection with a case of a newborn boy investigated by police officers in Thessaloniki, was released on conditional release.
The 20-year-old biological mother (foreigner), who is facing misdemeanor charges (released), is also accused in the same case. As it emerged from the investigation of the National Police, last March, the 48-year-old man came into contact with the 20-year-old (then) pregnant woman and they entered into a civil partnership agreement.
When the child was born the previous Tuesday (14/4) at a clinic in the city, he was registered as the child of the above and the Civil Partnership Agreement was dissolved the following day. On Friday (17/4) after being discharged from the clinic, according to the medical staff’s complaint to the authorities, the aforementioned left in different directions in different cars, including one in which the 48-year-old man took the baby with him, while in the process he also loaded a nanny he had allegedly hired to take care of the child into the vehicle.
The 48-year-old lawyer was summoned to explain himself to the investigating magistrate today for human trafficking (felony), making false statements and disturbing family order (misdemeanors). He denied the charges, reportedly claiming that they intended to get married and left separately because there was an emotional charge and they intended to meet at the house they had rented. The 20-year-old woman, who before her plea was examined by the investigating judge as a witness – a victim of human trafficking, in the presence of a psychologist – seems to have been on the same wavelength.
