The night was eventful, with not only roadblocks but also wild chases in the main streets of Attica.

A chase unfolded like a scene from a movie in the early hours of the morning on Kifissos Avenue, when one driver drove at an extremely high speed, far exceeding the permitted limits and endangering the safety of others.

According to the Traffic Police, the 46-year-old man developed a speed of more than 200 kilometres per hour, at a point where the limit is 120, while also making dangerous manoeuvres between other vehicles.

Police officers from the Traffic Accident Control and Prevention Team spotted him and discreetly followed him on a motorcycle and in a police car, starting the chase.

The vehicle’s pursuit ended in Peristeri, where officers managed to stop him. During the check it was found that he was driving under the influence of alcohol, which was confirmed by the breathalyser, and he did not have a valid licence and had a record of theft.

A case was filed against him for dangerous driving, his vehicle was seized, and he was brought before the competent prosecutor.
