The discovery of the body of a 17-year-old girl on Friday morning (17/4) at the Corinth Canal, following an operation by the authorities, caused a shock.
The minor had been reported missing a few hours earlier from the area of Filothei, with police immediately launching investigations.

According to reports, she had left her home on the evening of Thursday, April 16, saying she was going to class and not returning. Concern among her family members peaked when a note she had left behind was found, with her mother informing authorities in the early hours of the morning.
Her mobile phone’s tracking device was activated in the area of Corinth’s Isthmus and was a crucial clue in locating her.
Soon after, her body was found inside the Canal. The operation was attended by Coast Guard forces and a private diver, while the body was transported by ambulance to the Corinth hospital.

The 17-year-old was the daughter of a doctor from Philothei.
The authorities are examining the possibility of suicide, based on the note and the evidence so far, while the forensic examination is expected to provide the final answers.
