A knife attack occurred on Thursday morning, April 16, in Metaxourgio. An unidentified man wounded a 40-year-old man in the leg in order to grab his bag.
The man, originally from Algeria, is being treated at Attica Hospital with a very serious thigh injury.
The incident occurred shortly after 10:30am when the unidentified man approached the victim while he was walking on Marni Street in Metaxourgeio. There, he tried to steal the small bag on his shoulder.
The 40-year-old resisted and then the assailant pulled out a knife, stabbed him in the thigh and disappeared. The video brought to light by Mega captures the first few seconds after the stabbing. As can be seen, the 40-year-old’s gait is slow while blood has covered his right leg. The man continued to walk until a short time later, on Victor Hugo Street, he could not stand it and fell bloody to the pavement with local residents calling for an ambulance.
Authorities are expected to examine witness accounts and CCTV footage from the area to map the escape route and proceed with his identification.
