A 49-year-old man was sentenced to 15 months’ imprisonment, who was driving a truck under the influence of alcohol, causing a road accident with property damage on the Thessaloniki-Kalochori provincial road.
The Single Plenary Court of Thessaloniki, where he was taken under the spontaneous procedure, found him guilty of dangerous driving and drunkenness, while the sentence was decided to be converted to 10 euros per day. He appealed against the decision and was released.
According to the case file, during the measurement following the traffic accident it was found that he had consumed alcohol in excess of the prescribed limit (0.76 and 0.78 mg/l of exhaled air, respectively). “I found the mirror of a stopped car as I was passing. I’m sorry but I can’t turn back time,” the 49-year-old professional motorist said in his apology.
