Police officers arrested a 14-year-old and a 42-year-old in Nice, as part of the special “Spark-Down” action to prevent and deter the illegal trafficking and use of pyrotechnics.
According to police, the minor was found in the afternoon hours of April 9 outside a school complex in possession of a firework ready for use, while two more fireworks were found and seized in his possession.
The preliminary investigation revealed that he had obtained them from the 42-year-old man, who was located in the same area. In a subsequent search, 17 rocket-type fireworks were found and seized in his possession.
The minor’s parent was also arrested in the case for neglect of supervision, and the arrested persons were taken to the relevant prosecutor.
The General Police Directorate of Attica points out that the controls will continue with undiminished intensity throughout Attica, in the context of targeted actions for the protection of human life and the prevention of dangerous incidents.
