A mishap occurred in Evia last night on the evening of the Resurrection, at the Holy Trinity Church of Kriezona, giving another note to the moment. More specifically, as the priest was leaving the sanctuary to transmit the Holy Light, the faithful eagerly approached to be the first to light their candles.
In the heat of the moment, the priest’s candle went out, creating a moment of confusion in the church for a few seconds. However, in Evia, the Resurrection continued without a problem as the priest calmly returned to the sanctuary, relit the candle and came out again to distribute the Holy Light.
When the incident occurred, there was a spontaneous “ooh!” from the crowd, which quickly turned to laughter. The faithful were understanding and did not let this minor incident spoil the mood of the evening.
On the contrary, the moment added a human tone to the service, reminding us that even in the most sacred moments there can be small mishaps.
