Revival with a strong presence of riot police and without barrel bombs and Molotov cocktails, as is customary every year, was held this year by the faithful at the holy church of the Ascension in Neos Kosmos.
More specifically, since early evening of Holy Saturday (11.4.26), police officers from various agencies had been stationed around the Lagomitzi, carrying out backpack checks. The scene was certainly unusual, as riot squads of riot police were moving among the worshippers and there were parked police cars.
According to the National Police, backpacks with Molotov cocktails were found during the checks and seven arrests were made, three of which were turned into arrests.
This year’s “Christ is Risen” was accompanied only by flares in the sky and a few firecrackers.
