Extensive checks on luxury supercars have been carried out in recent days by DEOS inspectors, detecting a number of violations. The checks led to the seizure of 229 vehicles, with a total estimated value of more than 10 million.

A nationwide action of targeted checks on these vehicles has been planned, based on information from tollgates and customs offices and using digital risk analysis tools.

The ICE inspectors conducted raids on parking lots, dealerships, car yards and areas where popular high-traffic businesses are located.

The list of impounded vehicles includes but is not limited to LAMBORGHINI, PORSCHE, MERCEDES, BENTLEY, AUDI, FERRARI, all luxury, with values up to 750.000 euros per vehicle.

The offences relate to – among others – non-registration, circulation by a non-entitled person, inability to circulate in EU territory, under-valuation, under-declaration of purchase, presumption of use, provision in kind, tax residence of the owners’ drivers.

In addition, other financial and non-crimes were recorded, as cocaine was found in a vehicle and cars with counterfeit frames, possibly stolen.

The fines will be assessed once inspections are completed.
