The arrest of a 68-year-old man in Chania, for violations of the legislation on weapons (import and transport) was made by police officers of the Sub-Directorate for the Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes of Chania. According to the police during the afternoon hours of Wednesday during the checks of the Customs Service, was found 68 year old after arriving from abroad at Chania Airport, having carefully hidden in his luggage 8 firearms magazines with three springs, 2 firearms trunks and 4 earthquake devices.
Also, jewellery and valuables were found for which no declaration had been made to the Customs Authorities, from which the sum of 29.925 euros and 1,603 US dollars for further investigation into the legality of possession.
During the early hours of yesterday morning (09.04.2026) police officers of the Sub-Directorate for the Prosecution and Detection of Crimes of Chania conducted a search at his home in an area of the Municipality of Chania where they found and seized in addition, a war rifle firing pin, a flashlight with an adapted laser for a firearm and a taser adapted to a flashlight. The preliminary investigation is being carried out by the Sub-Directorate for Investigation and Detection of Crimes of Chania.
