The Directorate for Combating Organized Crime has dealt a major blow to a drug trafficking ring, arresting three men in Attica and making mammoth seizures of more than 360 kilos of cannabis and 26 kilos of cocaine, with the expected illegal profit reaching 2.5 million euros.
Specifically, according to the ELAS, after evaluating information, verifications and cross-checks, police officers of the “Greek FBI”, arrested at noon on Tuesday three men, aged 59, 50 and 35 years old, accused of possession and trafficking of drugs, in the wider area of Attica.
As announced by the police, in the framework of an operation of the Sub-Directorate of Narcotics, initially identified and arrested the 35-year-old man in an area of Athens, as he possessed 10 nylon packages with more than 10 kilograms of raw cannabis hydroponic cultivation (SKUNK). The specific quantity had been purchased earlier from the 59-year-old man, who was also acting on behalf of the 50-year-old.
In fact, as noted by the ELAS, the 35-year-old refused to comply, developing high speed with a vehicle he was driving, violating traffic signs, red lights and endangering pedestrians and other vehicles. In addition, prior to being stopped, he attempted to thwart the stop by putting up a strong resistance and pushing officers away with his hands and feet.
The arrest of the 59-year-old and the 50-year-old followed, while searches of an apartment, a warehouse and the exterior of a two-storey house yielded more than 26 kilograms of cocaine, more than -351 kilograms of processed and raw cannabis, precision scales, fake ID cards, fake driver’s licenses and stamp dies.
At total, during the operation, the following were found and seized:
– 26,010.5 grams of cocaine, divided into 24 improvised nylon packets,
– 330,950 grams of raw hydroponic cannabis, distributed in 298 nylon packets,
– 330,950 grams of raw hydroponic cannabis, distributed in 298 nylon packets,
– 31,600 grams of processed cannabis in the form of chocolate, divided into 315 nylon packets,
– 2 electronic precision scales,
– a number of nylon packages,
– the sum of 31,620 euros,
– the sum of 31,620 euros
– 4 fake identity cards,
– 4 fake identity cards,
– 4 fake driving licences, with different data for each type of driving licence,
– 2 public service stamp moulds,
– 3 stamp dies with tax officials’ details,

– 5 mobile phones and
– a closed circuit camera.

The ELAS estimated that the expected profit from drug trafficking amounts to 2,500,000 euros
The arrested persons, two of whom have been employed in the past for similar and other offences, were taken to the competent prosecuting authority.
