As stated in an announcement, the partnership is aimed at providing high quality vocational training and quality apprenticeships to young people up to 29 years of age, graduating from at least high school, who will choose specialisations of the Vocational Schools (VET) Apprenticeship Schools of DYPA in the construction sector, such as but not limited to building construction, project machinery operators, electricians & lift technicians and thermal & plumbing technicians.

In the context of the memorandum, the following are provided for, among other things:

– strengthening the link between education and the labour market through the Western education system,

– the implementation of extroversion actions, such as “Career Days”, information days and Open Days,

– the joint implementation of actions to inform and raise awareness of society, especially young people, about the prospects of the construction industry; and

The partnership will run until 30 June 2028 and is part of the strategic plan of the DYPA to upgrade vocational education and support employment.

DYPA’s Apprenticeship Training School students combine apprenticeships in companies with theoretical and laboratory training at the school.

In addition, they receive pay and insurance, are trained in modern facilities by experienced teaching staff and are entitled to benefits such as housing and food allowances, as well as study leave and deferred conscription.

DYPA’s administrator, Gianna Chormova, said: “With our partnership with ABAX we are substantially strengthening the link between vocational education and the labour market, creating a modern framework for skills development that meets the real needs of the economy. Our aim is to provide meaningful and sustainable employment opportunities for young people through modern forms of learning, such as apprenticeships, which combine theoretical training with practical experience in real working conditions. At the same time, we are helping to upgrade technical education and enhance the attractiveness of technical professions by investing in cutting-edge, high-demand sectors, such as the dynamically growing construction industry.”

For her part, ABAX’s Human Resources Director, Ekaterini Mantzoro, noted: “We are very happy to further expand our already very close and efficient cooperation with DYPA, with the aim of attracting new talent from Greece and abroad to our group. The Memorandum of Understanding we signed today marks the opportunity for even more of tomorrow’s skilled technicians to apprentice alongside already established professionals in the construction industry. Constant communication with young scientists and professionals is a strategic choice for us at ABAX Group.”
