In view of the holy and great feast of Easter, the Holy Metropolis of Nea Ionia, Filadelfia, Heraklion and Chalkidonos, through the solidarity network of its social structures, offered a significant quantity of “Packages of Love” to families facing financial difficulties and unable to meet the increased needs of everyday life.
Specifically, on Thursday, April 2, 2026, His Eminence Metropolitan K. Gabriel, accompanied by clergy and volunteers of the social work of the Holy Metropolis, visited the Holy Church of St. George of Nea Ionia, where “Bonds of Love” with food and essentials were distributed to more than 500 families, offering essential relief and support in view of the glorious feast of the Resurrection of our Lord.
The initiative was made possible thanks to the contribution and generous support of institutions and individuals, and in particular: The General Philoptochos Fund of the Holy Metropolis, the President of the “Sklavenitis” Group Maria Sklavenitis, Gerasimos Fokas, the Electra Palace Group, the “Benettatos Ioannis” Law Firm, the members of the “All Together We Can” initiative and Konstantinos Tasoulas (Getfoods Ltd).
The Holy Metropolis of Nea Ionia extends its warmest thanks to all those who contributed to the implementation of this important action, sponsors, clergy and volunteers, and especially to the head of the Social Grocery of the Holy Metropolis, Rev. Protopresbyter Fr. Vasilios Koursarakos, for his decisive contribution, so that this year again it is possible to offer love to our financially challenged brothers and sisters, despite the objective difficulties.
