The arrest of two young men, aged 19 and 20, was made by officers of the DIA team yesterday afternoon, Sunday 5 April, following a chase that started from Perama and ended in the area of Korydallos. A case file was formed against them by the Department of Crime Investigation and Detection of Perama, in case of robbery, complicity in robbery, disobedience and dangerous driving.
According to the police, the two accused approached a 69-year-old man in Perama, pretending to be interested buyers of a vehicle he had posted for sale. Then, using violence, they removed his neck chain and fled in a vehicle.
Instantly, officers of the DIA team were mobilized, who, after a thorough search, spotted the perpetrators moving in the area of Nice and called them for a check. The defendants did not comply, developing speed, resulting in a chase.
The vehicle was eventually immobilised at Korydallos and the two youths were arrested. During a check inside the car, the removed chain was found carefully hidden, which was seized and returned to the victim.
The arrestees were taken to the appropriate prosecutor.
