Two brothers were sentenced to 8 and 6 months in prison by the Heraklion Crete court after an incident between them over a minor incident.

The two brothers, who are also neighbours, began exchanging insults and threats when one of them took the side of a third person in a dispute between them. This attitude provoked a strong reaction from the other brother, causing the situation to escalate and eventually lead to court as one sued the other.

More specifically, the court handed the 60-year-old brother an eight-month suspended sentence for domestic threats and insult while the older brother, 63, was given a six-month suspended sentence for domestic insult. The 63-year-old’s wife, who was involved in the fight and had been arrested, was found not guilty.

“My client explicitly stated that he wished to pacify the situation with his brother as there is no serious and real problem between them other than the latter’s ego, which the other side denied. Nevertheless, we were acquitted of the acts of domestic violence that were unjustly attributed to us and we were punished only for threatening and insulting which we are afraid that we will be vindicated and these charges will also be dropped in the second degree,” said the lawyer of the 60-year-old brother, Michalis Vidakis, according to patris.gr.
