<span style="letter-spacing:. Mr Floros is on trial for "using violence against a member of parliament in the performance of his duties" as, according to the indictment, on 24 April 2024 outside the plenary session of the Parliament, he punched Mr Vassilis Grammenos. Referring to the charge, the prosecutor said the accused committed violence and stressed that "the act has the subjective and objective substance required by law."
The accused, in his plea, referred to “recklessness” and his “wrong reaction” because of what he said was an “unprovoked attack on my mother” by the victim.
As he said, “Wrong, wrong and my reaction. I know that if I have to apologize to anyone, it is to my mother, if I did not defend her then, after the apologies I made to the Greek people who voted for me. I cannot apologize to Mr. Grammenos because I have a restraining order.”
The MP was arrested after the incident and after his apology to the interrogator he was released on the restrictive condition that he not approach Mr Grammenos within 50 metres.
According to what the accused MP told the court, he did not hit Mr. Grammenos but grabbed him by the collar and tripped him “and he fell down.”
The defendant claimed that his anger was about the vulgar attack he received from the opposing party, who insulted his mother. At the same time, he expressed in court his willingness to withdraw his own complaint against Vassilis Grammenos, asking his accuser for a statement of repentance for what he said about his mother.
The proceedings continue.
