In the NSRF Programme “Environment and Climate Change 2021-2027”, energy upgrading interventions of the General Hospitals of Thessaloniki “Hippokratio” and Trikala were included, following relevant decisions of the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Nikos Papathanasis.

The total public expenditure amounts to 12,299,278.69 euros and the actions concern:

-Energy upgrading, energy saving and energy production interventions using Renewable Energy Sources in the main building of the General Hospital of Thessaloniki “Hippokratio”, with a total public expenditure of 7.012.787,42 euros. Among other things, replacement of frames, thermal insulation, replacement of steam boiler-burner units for space heating and hot water with a high thermal efficiency hot water boiler system are foreseen, replacement of local air-conditioning units with a multi-directional air-conditioning system with variable refrigerant flow (VRV) and air-cooled outdoor units, interventions in the lighting installations with replacement of all lamps in the existing lighting fixtures with LED lamps, installation of photovoltaic system. In addition, the hospital’s medical equipment is being upgraded (surgical projectors, furnace for heat-sensitive materials).

-Energy upgrade of the General Hospital of Trikala – Energy production with High Efficiency Cogeneration of Electricity and Heat – Renewable Energy Sources, total public expenditure 5.286.491,27 euros. Among other things, it is foreseen the addition of external thermal insulation and replacement of frames, replacement of lamps and lighting fixtures with LED technology, upgrading of electromechanical equipment, extension of the existing BMS system to an energy management system (BEMS), installation of a tri-generation system for heat and cooling with a CHP unit with an installed electrical power equal to or greater than 433 kWe (indicative power) and 581 kWth, as well as the installation of an active solar vacuum collector system for cooling production. It is also envisaged to supply and install medical equipment.
