A 44-year-old woman has been arrested for possession of 736 firecrackers, authorities in Heraklion, Crete, as part of checks ahead of Easter.

The operation was carried out after information received by the Minoa Pediada Police Department and is part of the wider planning of the General Regional Police Directorate of Crete to prevent accidents from the illegal use of explosives.

During the coordinated police operation, in which police officers from the Minoa Pedias and Hersonissos police stations and the Heraklion Police Operations Department participated, searches were carried out in a business and in a vehicle owned by the 44-year-old woman, where a total of 736 firecrackers were found and seized.

The preliminary investigation of the case is being carried out by the Minoa Pedias Police Department.
