The disappearance of 43-year-old Eleftheria Yiakoumaki from Crete has ended tragically, as she was reportedly found dead in the area of Agia Varvara.

The same reports say the woman was found in her car a few days after she was reported missing last Sunday morning. Her body was found in the backseat of the vehicle and, according to initial assessments, she sustained a gunshot wound.

Powerful police forces immediately rushed to the scene and proceeded to cordon off the area in order to preserve the site for the investigation.

At the same time, access has been denied pending the completion of the autopsy by a forensic team, which is expected to collect critical evidence that will shed light on the circumstances of the death.

The chronicle of the case

The case had taken on thriller proportions, especially after a 40-year-old man was found dead in a chapel in Profitis Ilias, with investigations looking into the possibility of a link between the two incidents.
