Financing of 300.000 euros for the upgrading and expansion of the sports infrastructure of the Polytechnic City of Zografouou, following a decision of the Session of the Presidents of the Greek Parliament.

The funding was approved following a request from the Rectorate of the Foundation to the Speaker of the Parliament, Nikitas Kaklamanis, and concerns the construction of two new outdoor sports facilities: A 7×7 football field and a 3×3 basketball field.

According to the NTUA, the football pitch will feature the latest generation synthetic turf and will be constructed in accordance with the current FIFA specifications, so that it can host official matches. At the same time, the 3×3 basketball court will meet FIBA specifications, with a modern sports floor and the necessary equipment for competitive use.

The new facilities will be developed on the site of the old Polytechnic Campus open track, utilizing a currently inactive area of the complex. According to the institution’s administration, the project is expected to enhance the sports and wellness opportunities for students, faculty and staff, while contributing to the improvement of the quality of life and daily life of the university community.
