A 25-year-old man accused of punching a 17-year-old with autism during a fair in New Philadelphia’s Main Square on May 2 has been released from jail.
In contrast, his companion was released after her plea, with no restraining order imposed.
According to reports, the 25-year-old apologized during his apology, expressing remorse for his actions.
“I am ashamed of what happened. It was a serious mistake and I could not control my anger at that moment. It all happened too fast. I apologise and I want to support the child and his family in every possible way as I have realised my mistake,” he reportedly told the inquest.
Despite his claims, the investigator and prosecutor decided to remand him in custody.
