Two people will be brought before the Public Prosecutor of Naxos, who were arrested by the police with the assistance of the Paros Port Authority, following fraud against citizens.
As announced by the police, a case of fraud was immediately solved in Naxos and a 31-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were arrested yesterday (Wednesday 03 June 2026) afternoon by police officers of the Naxos and Small Cyclades Police Department, against whom a case was filed for joint fraud.
One of the two persons involved, pretending to be an accounting clerk, called various citizens by telephone, managing to convince a total of four women from the island of Naxos to hand over jewellery they kept at home to a supposed “colleague” of his, with whom they met at a predetermined point, in order to record them and avoid taxation.
First the 31-year-old man and then, with the assistance of the Paros Port Authority, the 22-year-old woman who had boarded a ship bound for the port of Piraeus were identified.
The removed valuables found in their possession were seized and returned to the beneficiaries.
