The provision of five enhanced and flexible funding for all 13 Greek regions to address key problems such as housing, demography and the payment of direct compensation to victims of natural disasters, proposed in the report on the Multiannual Budget of the European Union for the period 2028-2034, New Democracy MEP G.
The Greek MEP points out that “the immediate and flexible provision of European funds will create the right conditions and prospects and will enable young people to remain in the place where they grew up, developing their professional and personal lives”.
The proposals of G. Avtia’s proposals are as follows:
1) Timely notification of available European funds to EU Member States, regions and municipalities to ensure their effective use.
2) Immediate and enhanced funding to Member States, islands, municipalities, regions and decentralised areas to address key problems such as housing, demography and natural disasters.
3) Proportional financial support based on the real needs of each region.
4) Provide annual and adequate funding to remote areas, islands, regions and municipalities for infrastructure projects such as schools, health services, water and transport networks.

5) Exempting the repayment of the Recovery Fund from the European budget to ensure more resources for all 13 regions of Greece.
With these proposals, Avtias aims to ensure that the new multiannual budget of the European Union stimulates regional development and becomes people-centred.
