At least five people were killed in a shooting today in a residential area of Kiev and 10 are hospitalized, President Volodymyr Zelensky said, citing Interior Minister Ihor Klimenko.
“So far, the deaths of five people have been confirmed,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said via an X post, adding that “10 people are being treated” and that “four hostages have been rescued.”
Interior Minister Ihor Klimenko said earlier that the gunman who had barricaded himself in a supermarket in an area of the capital was killed during his capture.
“The gunman was killed during his arrest in Kiev” at the supermarket where he had barricaded himself, the minister said via a post on the Telegram app, adding that the man “had taken hostages and was shooting at the police” during his arrest.
