The pilot of the US F-15 fighter jet that was shot down over Iran and wanted by special forces has been found.
The rescue was confirmed in a post on Truth Social by Donald Trump, stressing: “We will never leave any American soldier behind.”

My fellow Americans, in the last few hours the United States Army has conducted one of the most daring Search and Rescue operations in U.S. history for one of our outstanding crew officers, who is also a highly respected Colonel, and I am very pleased to inform you that he is now SAFE and SAVED!
This brave warrior was behind enemy lines in the dangerous mountains of Iran, pursued by our enemies who were getting closer and closer with every hour, but he was never truly alone, as the Chief of State, the Minister of Defense, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and his fellow soldiers watched his location 24 hours a day and diligently planned his rescue.
On my orders, the US military sent dozens of aircraft, equipped with the world’s deadliest weapons, to retrieve him. He suffered injuries, but will make a full recovery.
This miraculous Search and Rescue operation comes on top of yesterday’s successful rescue of another brave pilot, which we did not confirm at the time so as not to jeopardize the second operation.
It is the first time in military history that two American pilots have been rescued, separately, deep inside enemy territory.
We will never leave an American soldier behind.
The fact that we were able to complete both of these operations without ONE American dead or wounded proves once again that we have achieved total air dominance and superiority in the Iranian skies.
This is a moment that ALL Americans – Republicans, Democrats and everyone else – should feel proud and united about.
