A shooting incident occurred today at the intersection of 15th Street and Independence Avenue in Washington, D.C., a few blocks from the White House, the U.S. Secret Service has reported.
“US Secret Service agents are at the scene of an officer-involved shooting incident at the intersection of 15th Street and Independence Avenue in Washington, DC. One man was shot by law enforcement. His condition remains unknown at this time,” the Secret Service briefing on Platform X said, without going into further detail.
Journalists at the White House have said that as a precautionary measure, they have been asked to gather in the press room until it is determined if there is a threat to the presidential residence. A short time later, security officials informed them that they could return to their duties.
