Washington has expressed to Israel its “concern” as Israeli police on Sunday barred the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem from accessing the Holy Sepulchre, a White House spokeswoman said tonight.
“We expressed our concern to Israel about the closure of the holy sites. We want believers to be able to access the places of worship,” Caroline Levitt said at a press briefing.
“Israel is working on security issues to reopen these sites during Holy Week and we are grateful to them for that,”
