The US military has warned civilians to “immediately” avoid all port facilities in the Strait of Hormuz.
The warning comes from the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) due to increased military risks in the region from Iranian naval forces.
.
Danger to workers and crews
The statement noted that port workers, administrative staff and crews of commercial vessels should avoid all contact with Iranian naval vessels and military equipment in order to reduce the risk of accidents or involvement in military actions.
.
Military presence in the Strait of Hormuz
U.S. forces point out that Iranian naval activity in the strait is intense, and includes periodic patrols and military exercises, which increases the danger to anyone approaching the port facilities.
Recommendations for safe navigation
.
CENTCOM also urges all commercial and private vessels to strictly follow safety instructions, limit their presence in the area and continuously monitor updates.
.
The warning message:
“U.S. forces urge citizens in Iran to immediately avoid all port facilities where Iranian naval forces are operating. Iranian port workers, administrative personnel, and merchant ship crews should avoid Iranian naval vessels and military equipment. The Iranian regime uses civilian ports along the Strait of Hormuz to conduct military operations that threaten international shipping. This dangerous action endangers the lives of innocent people. Civilian ports used for military purposes lose their protected status and become legitimate military targets under international law.”
