The US decision to ease sanctions on Russian oil sales will allow Russia to prolong the four-year war it has waged against Ukraine, a Ukrainian diplomatic source said today.
“This decision will certainly not help stabilize the market, but it will help Russia wage war for longer – at the same time that Russia itself is helping the Iranian regime destabilize the Middle East,” this source told reporters.
In London, the British government said today, following the US announcement of the easing of sanctions on Russian oil, that all of Kiev’s allies “should maintain pressure on Russia”.
“The decision is obviously up to the United States, but our position is clear, all (Ukraine’s) partners should keep the pressure on Russia and its war chest,” the Downing Street spokesman said, adding that it is also “the best way to continue to prevent Moscow from supporting hostile actors” in the world.
