The United Arab Emirates said its air force repelled missile and drone attacks that authorities said were launched by Iran.
“The UAE air defence is on alert and countering missile and drone attacks originating from Iran,” the defence ministry said via a post on X, clarifying that the explosions and sounds heard in various parts of the country were due to interception operations.
The UAE’s National Authority for Crisis, Emergency and Disaster Management issued a similar update, urging citizens to stay in safe areas and to be informed exclusively through official communication channels.
The development comes hours after the US and Iran exchanged fire in the Strait of Hormuz, heightening fears of a collapse of the already fragile ceasefire in the region.
