Sirens have sounded at the NATO-operated Incirlik air base in Adana province in southeastern Turkey, Turkey’s Anadolu news agency reported today.

“Sirens were heard today at Inçirlik airbase in Turkey,” the agency reported in its English service without specifying the time of the incident or providing any other details.

U.S. troops are stationed at Turkey’s Incirlik air base as part of NATO.

Turkish media said sirens sounded at around 03:25 (local time, 02:25 GMT) and for five minutes in Adana.

A flaming object appears to fall from the sky in a video posted by users on social media.

Two missiles fired by Iran have been destroyed inside Turkish airspace since the start of the Middle East war.

Turkey said Tuesday that a Patriot air defense system was deployed in the center of the country the day after NATO intercepted a second missile fired by Iran.

Washington closed its consulate general in Adana on Monday and urged American citizens to leave the region.
