US President Donald Trump told reporters today that the US had strong talks with Iran, stressing that the two sides had “important points of agreement.”

Trump said the talks held yesterday Sunday will continue today and that if the negotiations continue productively, there will be an agreement very soon. He said the talks were held by his envoy Steve Whitcoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner.

The Republican president stressed that the US is talking to an Iranian leader who is not the new supreme leader.

He noted that if a deal is reached, it is an excellent start for Iran and excellent for the region.
