The United States needs only “two more weeks” to strike all of its targets in Iran, Donald Trump assured in an interview taped earlier this week and broadcast today.

When asked by freelance journalist Cheryl Atkinson, the US president also reiterated that the Iranians “have been defeated on the military level” and took the opportunity to once again mock his NATO allies by calling the alliance a “paper tiger”.

The release of this interview comes as Iran announced today that it has responded to the latest US proposal, which aims to end the conflict that erupted on February 28 between Iran and the US.

“They have been defeated at the military level (…) maybe they don’t realize it, but I think they know it,” Donald Trump assured the journalist.

“That does not mean, however, that they have said their last word,”

Trump hinted that the US military could “stay on the ground for an additional two weeks and hit all the targets. We had some targets in mind and we’ve hit probably 70 percent of them, but there are others that we could hit (…) it would only be the finishing touch,” he said.

The US president also spoke about NATO, which he once again compared to a “paper tiger”, complaining that his allies were “not there to help”.
