US President Donald Trump said today that Iran has said it is in a state of collapse and wants the US to open the Strait of Hormuz while Tehran settles its leadership issue.

It is not clear from the US president’s social media post how Iran communicated this message and for now Tehran has not commented on it.

“Iran has just informed us that they are in a “State of Collapse”. They want us to “Open the Straits of Hormuz” as soon as possible as they attempt to sort out the situation with their leadership (which I believe they will succeed in doing!),” Trump wrote in his post.

At this time, the White House has not responded to a request to comment on Trump’s message on Truth Social.

Donald Trump is not satisfied with the latest Iranian proposal on ending the two-month war, a U.S. official told Reuters, tempering hopes for a resolution to the conflict, which has disrupted energy supplies, fueled inflation and killed thousands of people.
