Donald Trump said today that Iran “has “no cards in its hand” to negotiate other than the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic transit point for global hydrocarbon trade that Tehran has effectively ruled out for weeks.

“The Iranians don’t seem to realize that they have no cards in their hands except short-term blackmail of the rest of the world using international sea lanes. The only reason why (the Iranians) are still alive today is to negotiate,” the US president wrote on his Truth Social network, ahead of the start of peace talks in Pakistan.
