Trump appears to be focusing on creating a lasting peace between Israel and Lebanon, two countries that have been officially at war since 1948.
The President expressed his intention to host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun in the near future, aiming to promote dialogue and cooperation.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the president’s personal involvement was instrumental in extending the current ceasefire in Lebanon, expressing optimism about the prospects for peace. “The president’s involvement has given both sides time and space to continue efforts for a lasting peace,” he said from the Oval Office.

According to Rubio, both Israel and Lebanon have been affected by attacks by Hezbollah, an organization that operates within Lebanese territory. “The Lebanese people deserve to live in a peaceful and prosperous country,” he added, stressing that the organization’s threat must be countered.
