US President Donald Trump today announced in a post on a social media platform that there will be a three-day ceasefire in the war between Ukraine and Russia from tomorrow, May 9, until the 11th.
The agreement between the two sides includes a suspension of all armed activity and also the exchange of 1,000 prisoners of war from each country.
According to the US president, talks to end this “great conflict” are continuing and “every day, we are getting closer and closer.”
“Let’s hope this is the beginning of the end of a long, murderous and brutal war,” he added in his Truth Social post.
Russia had already announced a three-day ceasefire to mark the anniversary of the Soviet army’s victory over the Nazis in World War II.
