Funds, gold pounds and jewellery, the total value of which exceeds 200.000 euros, a woman, 31 years old, extorted from an unsuspecting victim, in a fraud case committed last August in Serres and solved by the local police authorities.
According to the investigation conducted by police officers of the Serres Crime Investigation and Detection Sub-Division, the woman’s accomplice contacted the 61-year-old victim by telephone, pretending to be her accountant’s partner. He, in turn, allegedly referred her to a woman who appeared to be an investment manager, persuading the victim to hand over everything valuable she had under the pretext of profitable investments.
Indeed, the woman handed over €200,000 in cash, 12 gold pounds and jewellery to the 31-year-old accused who turned up at her home as a “collector”. A case has been filed against her, while the police investigation continues to identify her accomplices and investigate their possible involvement in other similar cases.
