A 10-year-old boy was pulled unconscious from an irrigation canal in Herakleia, Serres.
The authorities were informed at around 11.45am by a resident of the settlement about the minor’s fall and fire and police forces immediately rushed to the scene.
Firefighters managed to pull the little boy out of the water and handed him over to ambulance rescuers. According to police sources, despite efforts, he was pronounced dead.
For the exact causes and circumstances of the death, a forensic examination has been ordered, which will take place in Thessaloniki, while the preliminary investigation is being carried out by the police.
