A possible suspension of the agreement between the European Union and Israel could be discussed again in light of “disproportionate” Israeli strikes in Lebanon and settler violence in the West Bank, a French Foreign Ministry spokesman said today.
“Considering the seriousness of what happened yesterday (Wednesday) in Lebanon and, given the situation in the West Bank, the possibility of reopening the discussion on the suspension of the Association Agreement between the European Union and Israel, in addition to national sanctions, cannot be ruled out,” Pascal Confavre said.
“Israel certainly has the right to defend itself, but its actions are not only unacceptable but also disproportionate and lead to a de facto deadlock,” he added.
