Dimitris Papastergiou, Minister of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence, presented the results of six years of operation of gov.gr, as well as the next steps in the digital transformation of the country, at the relevant event.

The Minister said that the success of gov.gr is not only reflected in the numbers, but also in the changes it has brought to the daily lives of citizens and civil servants.

“What we have just seen are the results for the first six years of operation. Citizens who have won the right not to go to a public service, but also civil servants who do their work with less pressure and more security. All together they are moving towards a new relationship of trust with the state,” he said.

As he said, gov.gr started as “a great trust reform” and is now a practical proof that the Greek state can evolve and become more efficient.”

“Today it is proof that the state can change, evolve, respect citizens’ time, become more digital and more efficient. The citizen no longer needs to know where a public service is located, whether the protocol is on the first floor or on the ground floor, nor whether the director has signed off. He just knows that the service is there and is working 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”
