Pakistani Prime Minister Shabaz Sharif said this evening that talks between the US and Iran in Islamabad, scheduled to begin tomorrow, Saturday, are crucial to achieving a permanent ceasefire in the weeks-long Middle East conflict.
In a separate package of measures announced during his speech, the government also cut the price of diesel to Rs385 ($1.38) per litre and the price of petrol to Rs366 per litre. (The current exchange rate of 1 US dollar is pegged at 278.750 Pakistani rupees.)
