Iranian state television reported tonight that there have already been two rounds of peace talks between Iran and the US in Pakistan and a third will likely be held “tonight or tomorrow” Sunday.
“Experts from both sides are exchanging texts” to reach a peace deal beyond the 15-day ceasefire that came into effect on Wednesday, the TV added, citing information “from a person close to the Iranian negotiators”.
A state television reporter based in Islamabad said “last-ditch efforts” were being made to close the rift between the two sides, saying the US was still making “outrageous demands”.
The Financial Times said negotiators have reached “deadlock” over the Strait of Hormuz.
Earlier today, two Pakistani officials revealed to Agence France-Presse that two successive rounds of talks had been held. One source spoke of a “generally (…) cordial atmosphere” in these talks.
