With Evan Fournier (28p, 6/9 triples) and Sasha Vezenkov (24p.) carrying Olympiacos’ offense at all the crucial points and with an outburst at the start of the last quarter that led to a +15 lead, the Piraeus team defeated Panathinaikos 102-92 in Game 3 of the Greek Basketball League playoffs, went 2-1 and are now one win away from the Greek Basketball League playoff title.
The Greens couldn’t find solutions in their offense, with only small “reactions” from Grant (19 pts.), Shortz (15 pts.) and Hayes-Davis (12 pts.), but very poor shooting from Nunn (10 pts., 0/5th triples) and despite their attempt to “come back” in the final period – when they were down 88-84 – they were hit with another 5-0 run that basically “ended” the game.
With 51 seconds to go, Ergin Ataman was given two technical penalties for loudly protesting to the referees, calling for a foul by Milutinov on Hayes-Davis.
The series now moves to the Telecom Center, where the fourth final will take place on Wednesday night (10/6, 9pm).
Times: 27-21, 47-45, 70-62, 102-92
