Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed tonight that his country had “eliminated” Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs with its strikes on the Islamic Republic.

At the time Netanyahu made these statements, talks between Washington and Tehran were continuing in Islamabad.

“We have succeeded in eliminating Iran’s nuclear program and eliminating its missile program,” Netanyahu said in his televised address, adding that the war against Tehran had weakened the Iranian leadership and its allies in the region.

“They wanted to strangle us and (now) we are strangling them. They threatened us with annihilation and now they are fighting for their survival,” he added.

Referring to Lebanon, Netanyahu said he wants a “real peace treaty” that “will last for generations.”
