Riot has broken out in Tirana, the capital of Albania, as protesters attacked the office of Prime Minister Edi Rama, throwing Molotov cocktails and fireworks.
The attack came as part of a demonstration by Albania’s opposition, which is calling for the resignation of the Edi Rama government following serious allegations of corruption involving the deputy prime minister.
Many protesters gathered on the streets of the Albanian capital outside the office of Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama, who has ruled the country since 2013, following a call from the opposition Democratic Party (PD) party demanding his and his government’s resignation over corruption allegations.
The situation quickly turned ugly and turned into a war zone as videos making the rounds on the internet show protesters throwing Molotov cocktails and fireworks.
Police intervened at the scene, using water trucks to disperse the crowd and restore order.
