Lebanon’s Prime Minister Nawaf Salam declared Thursday, April 9, a day of national mourning, following a series of thunderous bombings by Israel’s armed forces that killed nearly two hundred people in the country yesterday, Wednesday.

Today will be “a day of national mourning for the martyrs and the wounded in the Israeli attacks which targeted hundreds of innocent and defenceless civilians,” Mr Salam said, according to a press statement released by his office.

According to the statement, Prime Minister Salam wants “all Lebanese political and diplomatic resources to be mobilized to stop the Israeli killing machine.”

The latest official death toll is at least 182 dead and 890 wounded, according to yet-to-be-finalized figures from Lebanon’s Health Ministry.
