The General Regional Police Directorate of Central Macedonia informs about an attempt to defraud citizens in the city of Katerini with a post on social media. “Elites call unsuspecting citizens and claim that their child has been injured in a traffic accident and in order to be operated on, they must immediately give money,” the statement says and stresses that citizens should not give money. “Inform others, especially the elderly,” the statement concludes.
According to police sources, the Direct Action call centre in Katerini has received more than 25 calls since morning today from citizens who reported an attempt to defraud them under the pretext of a medical emergency of a relative after a car accident.
